Find us on the harbour of Ierapetra, in southeastern Crete. The restaurant’s terrace looks out over the Libyan Sea and the Venetian fortress Kalès, a 13th‑century stronghold that protected the city from pirates and now hosts cultural events. The gastrobar takes its name from this fortress, and its setting, half open to the waterfront, means diners can watch the sun set behind the boats while enjoying modern Cretan flavours

Our History
From Tavern to Gastrobar
The site now, has long been part of Ierapetra’s social life. For many years a seaside tavern operated here, split into two small buildings on either side of a narrow road. When the owners decided to create something new, they kept this unusual layout: the north building houses the kitchen and service areas, while the south building was rebuilt as an open dining terrace overlooking the harbour. The transformation was completed in 2025 by Telford 46 Architects, who designed both the architecture and interior
